Patron Saints
Growing up Catholic, a patron saint was invoked for almost every seemingly helpless situation that occurred in our family. Yes, there is a patron saint of helpless causes. Most called upon, though, was St. Anthony, Patron Saint of Lost Articles. If it hadn't been for St. Anthony, my mother never would have found her engagement ring.
Creating images to connect the saint to the miraculous deed was something I just had to do. Got a sore throat? You might want to call upon Saint Blaise.
